Burnout: Setting Boundaries

Do you feel burned out in your current job or position? Psychology Today’s article, “Burned Out on the Job? New Research Shows Why,” estimates that almost 30% of US people experience burn out. The article suggests that burn out occurs when there is a conflict between our internal motivations and the demands of our job.

While it is not feasible for everyone to go out and simply find a new job (for various reasons), one thing that may help is being assertive and setting boundaries.  What can you do to find more joy in your work? What can you do to make the workload more manageable (think: working “smarter,” not “harder”)? What boundaries can you set?
