Talking to Your Kids About Drugs

The Drug/Alcohol/Sex talk should begin to take place in elementary school…and then, continue over the teenage years. If you don’t talk to your kids about it, know that other kids will. And if you are avoiding “the talk” like the plague, then I would encourage you to do some soul searching. What makes this so difficult for you?

Maybe for some parents there is some fear that your pre-teen/teen will ask what you did as a teenager. And now, as your older, wiser self you can see the negative consequences of drugs, alcohol, and teenage sex. NPR offers some ideas on what to say and what not to say when talking to your kids about drugs.
