You may have heard of Bringing Up Bébé, a book that describes the parenting philosophy of the French as told by an American living in Paris, written by Pamela Druckerman. PsychologyToday’s recently published article, “Why French Kids Don’t Have ADHD” sheds light on the importance of looking at underlying causes of children’s behavior (think: social, relational, family systems). While it’s true that some children in France are medically diagnosed with ADHD (less than .5%), it doesn’t come close to the 9% of school children diagnosis here in the United States.
